The ideal candidate will have both a strong technical background in CS, EE/CS, or MBA with these backgrounds. It is expected that the intern will walk away from this experience with a true understanding of what it takes to be successful in the entrepreneurial world, as well as knowledge of how software products are brought into existence and then marketed. We are actively involved in advanced performance optimization using SIMD instruction sets, as well as implementation of digital signal processing routines. We are also actively working in GUI development on both Apple OS and Windows systems. Duties will range from helping with the phones, and scheduling to keeping track of products and the planning that goes into the development of products. Additionally, this person may assist with code development. The ideal individual is someone that has already been activity writing code either as part of a graduate or professor based project. A basic understanding of the core tools used in the development process is also suggested, but we do expect the individual to quickly become experts in these tools through their experience with us.

The ideal candidate will have both a marketing or business background and also computer skills or multimedia interests, grad level students are strongly encouraged to apply. It is expected that the intern will walk away from this experience with a true understanding of what it takes to be successful in the entrepreneurial world, as well as knowledge of the sophisticated marketing and sales practices of the Software industry. Duties will range from helping with the phones, sales orders entry, dealers files maintenance, marketing research, as well as assisting with development of marketing tools and usage of E-Commerce tools. Additionally, this person will assist with our involvement in the many marketing and sales opportunities and events that take place. And finally the individual must be comfortable working in a small team, and able to work flexibly in a fast pace environment.

Real world network and services experience is available to the right aggressive IS student who doesn't fear huge campaigns in complex systems. A strong candidate will have completed course work in database design and administration, knows MSAccess, as well as familiarity with a broad range of IP networking tools and services, and knows how to use them in an NT environment. An ideal candidate combines these talents with academic experience with the slings and arrows of e-commerce: ASP and/or Java web scripting. If you built and networked a Macintosh, a Unix system, and NT server, to test and tweak your dynamic web page which manages your database of favorite links and services via SQL, created an access filter to share it only with your friends, here's a chance to see how it's done in the real world, contributing to the evolution of real solutions. Specific experience coordinating and herding elephants through mountain passes is not a prerequisite; but it helps.

Do you consistently catch and devour programming problems? Are you interested in challenging your programming skills? CS majors with an interest in contributing to our MPEG encoding software technologies should be fairly confident in programming in C, strong in math, and interested in working with digital video processing. They will have the opportunity to optimize code with MMX, AltiVec and 3D-Now SIMD instruction sets and work with streaming audio and video technology as well as other areas of applications programming. The contributing small projects we have buzzing around the lab are much juicier than typical classroom projects. And the software engineer who guides and enlightens this intern really doesn't drink blood. Honest.

We are seeking interns with a "can do" attitude. And finally the individual must be able to function in chaos and help to master this guerilla environment.

Fine Print

The intern program by HEURIS works in 3 stages:

1. An initial unpaid evaluation period, which normally lasts from 30-60 days.

2. A paid evaluation period which pays from $7-$10/hr.

3. A paid long term intern program that can extend across semesters and vacations.

It is necessary that most permanent employment positions have taken part in the intern program in some manner.
