HEURIS Releases MPEG Export
Engine
HEURIS releases
QuickTime 3 component
that converts QuickTime files into MPEG-1 streams.
St. Louis, MO, August 24, 1998 -- HEURIS,
makers of the most widely used professional MPEG encoder, today anounced that their MPEG
Export Engine is now available for purchase over the web. The HEURIS MPEG Export Engine is
a new QuickTime export component that will create MPEG-1 streams. It is for professionals
who need to spec out jobs, demonstrate the quality of MPEG-1streams to their clients, and
create video proofs of work in progress, without having to make a large speculative
investment in an MPEG encoder. The HEURIS MPEG Export Engine is designed to introduce
professionals to HEURISs award-winning MPEG encoding technology using a new,
inexpensive component that is tightly integrated with their existing tools.
"Most professional video editors need to prove the
technology and secure a paying client before they can consider buying a
full-featured MPEG encoder," says Brian Quandt, President of HEURIS. "This
product will make the first step into MPEG a smaller, less risky one."
The HEURIS MPEG Export Engine makes converting QuickTimeä
files into MPEG-1 streams easy. Users of QuickTime 3 Pro simply select File >
Export from the main menu of the MoviePlayerä and then select "Movie to HEURIS
MPEG" on the "Export File As:" dialog. A range of options and
templates are available on the "Options" screen. The HEURIS MPEG Export Engine
will also be integrated with Terran Interactives Media Cleaner Pro 3.1 and will
offer an extended range of encoding options.
"QuickTime brings together a wide variety of the
latest multimedia tools," said Steve Bannerman, senior product manager for QuickTime
at Apple Computer, Inc. "HEURIS MPEG Export Engine adds an inexpensive,
high-quality MPEG-1 encoder to the QuickTime toolset."
"The MPEG Export Engine is a great way for
professionals to get their feet wet with MPEG," said Brian Quandt, President for
HEURIS. "It allows professionals to easily and inexpensively learn about MPEG. They
can then purchase one of our full professional products when they are awarded a project or
need MPEG-2."
The HEURIS MPEG Export Engine retails for $99 and is
available for purchase over the web.
Both Macintosh and Windows versions are available. The HEURIS MPEG Export Engine will also
be bundled with version 3.1 of Terran Interactives Media Cleaner Pro, which is due
out at the end of September as a free upgrade to existing Media Cleaner Pro users.
Developers requiring additional functionality, including Avid OMF and Media 100 QuickTime
file format support, batch encoding with interrupt and resume, and MPEG-2 support, can
easily upgrade to HEURIS' MPEG Power Professional line of products.
