HEURIS Introduces MPEG Power
Professional(tm)
for the Macintosh
Professional video editing and MPEG-1 digital
video compression
now on a single platform

-- HEURIS, a leading provider of MPEG encoding solutions for professional digital video
applications, today introduced MPEG Power Professional for the Macintosh, software for
MPEG-1 digital video compression. The new product is the only Macintosh-based software
encoder that works directly with leading nonlinear editing systems--on a single hardware
platform--to generate digital video for multimedia applications such as sales
presentations, interactive kiosks, corporate training, and web pages. The new package
eliminates the need to translate video to analog mode during the editing process,
resulting in higher quality digital output. The software also helps leverage the
significant cost of Motion JPEG nonlinear editing systems. In addition, digital video
playback is more convenient, using the MPEG capabilities now included in Apple Quicktime.
MPEG Power Professional for the Macintosh gives professional
video application developers a cost-effective alternative to hardware-based MPEG-1
solutions, while still delivering high quality output suitable for a broad range of
multimedia applications. The product is both flexible and comprehensive, supplying easy
templates that optimize compression for MPEG-1 beginners, plus advanced customization
features that allow experienced professionals to control encode parameters. The product
also makes it easy to develop digital video segments that can be downloaded over the
Internet.
MPEG Power Professional for the Macintosh runs on the Quadra
950(tm) or PowerMac(tm) with Macintosh System 7.5 (or higher). Accepted video inputs
include Avid Media Composer(tm) OMF files (AVR 25,26,70) and Quicktime (tm) *.mov files
from Media 100(tm).
MPEG Power Professional is also available for Windows NT(tm)
(3.51 and above) and Windows 95(tm).
Pricing and Availability
MPEG Power Professional for the Macintosh is available direct
from HEURIS and through dealers, distributors and OEM vendors at a list price of $2,499.
